One – “Is it getting better?”

country womans altar

“Sisters and brothers, we get to carry each other.”

As are many others, I continue to ponder the tragedy of little children gunned down in a torrent of bullets. Teachers trying to protect them with their bodies. Children, friends, siblings trying to protect each other in the face of insurmountable odds and a violence that came from nowhere…. I have no answers so turn to what I know.

It is the longest night and the returning of the light.
It is my prayer and my intention to bring peace and truth to my small place on the planet, both here and with those I love.
I am inadequate but I will try to stay on the path.
Might we all find solace in knowing it is one moment at a time.
Always with the knowledge that what we experience may be changed in an instant.
That truth transmutes all we do, all we offer, all we think. There is somewhere within that knowing, power to make a change.

Is it getting better?

Or do you feel the same?

Will it make it easier on you now?

You got someone to blame

You say
One love
One life

When it’s one need
In the night

One love

We get to share it

Leaves you darling if you

Don’t care for it

Did I disappoint you?

Or leave a bad taste in your mouth?

You act like you never had love

And you want me to go without

Well it’s
Too late

To drag the past out into the light

We’re one, but we’re not the same

We get to

Carry each other

Carry each other

Have you come here for forgiveness?

Have you come to raise the dead?

Have you come here to play Jesus?

To the lepers in your head
Did I ask too much?

More than a lot.

You gave me nothing,

Now it’s all I got

We’re one

But we’re not the same

Well we

Hurt each other

Then we do it again

You say

Love is a temple

Love a higher law

Love is a temple

Love the higher law

You ask me to enter

But then you make me crawl

And I can’t be holding on

To what you got

When all you got is hurt

One love

One blood

One life

You got to do what you should

One life

With each other

One life

But we’re not the same

We get to

Carry each other

Carry each other

  1. Great words and music.

    1. Namaste Benjamin- i am now going to try to sleep… i’ll report later. 😀

  2. Beautiful thoughts and music. It is incredible about the recent episode of violence.I feel wounded emotionally myself.I do thank you for the kind words about my art. I feel that art heals us all. It is constant, honest and forever.Glad to know you. You have a great heart. RLTE

    1. Silvia,
i’m glad you liked my choice. U2 is and always has been my favorite group. the lyrics have much meaning, not just noise. it has affected me much the same and even a bit of ptsd for some reason. i am glad there is now less on tv as i seemed to watch toooooo much. art heals all i do hope as then it gives meaning to making it. sometimes i get caught in “wasting” paint and expenses …… anyway thanks for stopping in and leaving me a comment. 🙂

  3. And so I sit here, casted leg propped up so toes stay the right colour, jammin’ to Bono in the early morning hours…….the handy dandy thermos of coffee near empty.
I’ve visited links and come back again.
For me, this morning, it’s about the connectedness of human beings and the privilege of being able to remain connected even in today’s isolation.
And it’s about peace beginning with me.
And love…’s always about love, eh?

This moment in time is always a gift. And even though it’s a ‘routine’ moment that I manage to demand in all circumstances, I know it’s ‘required’ for me.
Believe it or not, it centers me and brings me back to the basics.
Always, always about love. Isn’t it amazing how our paths get crossed with ones who validate the truths that get muddled up in the noise of the circumstances?
It still amazes me. Even after all this time…….

And can I add that I adore the alter?
It warmed my soul this morning.

    1. mel,
I think that was the point of my choosing this song “one” as we are all one. we are not as isolated as we feel altho sometimes it’s hard to get that when we feel alone. all one… 🙂 love is all we’ve got! sometimes the so-called coincidences of life never really are… thus we met!

yes, so do i…it sits there in front of my computer on the little desk i use to type on. i am short so need something small and my desk is antique thus fits me for a change. xoxoxo

  4. Ah…what an ideal place for the wee Buddah.
I’ve got a dancing penguin, a wiggling punkin head guy and a cup with pencils along with a notepad on the desk–toss in the punkin coffee mug and it’s an ‘altar’ of sorts? LOL k…..not even close, but since I adore coffee AND Halloween, perhaps it’s more of a tribute of all things Mel-like? 😉

It’s the morning of the Eve–and I do hope you and yours have an audacious Holiday in the works. I’ll be wrapping the cast in red ribbon and BEING the candy cane! For me it’s always about the ‘play’ and ‘making good of the moment’……that’s once I get done grieving what I *thought* things oughta looked like. *laughing* I’m sure I present hours of amusement for the Big Guy, given my huge ego and thought processes!

Celebrate what IS. And I shall find the ribbon and make today joyful…..because it is my choice after all.
    Thank goodness for THAT.
    *laughing* Well………MOST day’s that’s true, anyway.

    Happy Christmas, Linda!!

    1. sounds like a lovely altar, my friend. i wish you the same and much healing for your dear, red and white leg. i am wondering how long you will be all cast up? you mention grieving for a holiday that “oughta” be… i hear you about that. it’s just us again so there you go…not only that but a bit of family drama too, thanks to me primarily…it’s a new year coming, don’t ya know. 🙂 thanks for the little reminder it is OUR choice after all. i need to remember that more often. (((((Mel)))) xoxoxo

  5. Good morning, dear Linda!

You expressed yourself so beautifully in this post. Few words, yet you shared a plethora of insight and knowledge.

“That truth transmutes all we do, all we offer, all we think. There is somewhere within that knowing, power to make a change.”

You are so right, my friend.

At times like this we often feel totally helpless in supporting those who have experienced such a horrendous and devastating tragedy. I can’t even imagine what the parents and family of these children are going through right now, especially during this holiday season. I’ve been lighting a candle for them each evening; sending much Reiki and light with the intention that it helps to heal their aching hearts.

    “One life

    With each other

    One life

    But we’re not the same

    We get to

    Carry each other”

Wishing you and your family a beautiful and peaceful Christmas day!
